East Brother Light Station Inc.
[ View Opportunity ]
| Last updated on November 6, 2008 |
Historic preservation of a 130 year old victorian lighthouse on East Brother Island in San Francisco Bay. Need painters, carpenters, handy people, fund raisers, marketing persons.
Description:
25 years ago the U.S. Coast Guard was going to tear down and automate the lighthouse on East Brother Island. A group of volunteers, primarily from the Point Richmond area came to the rescue, established a lease with the Coast Guard and restored the site to its original condition. Since then the East Brother Light Station Inc. 501(c)3 has operated as a bed and breakfast to fund its own operation and maintenance. Almost all maintenance is accomplished with volunteer help. We have one Volunteer work party per month on the second Saturday of each month. To register visit www.ebls.org and click on "volunteer"
