Agency Details:

Pakistani American Foundation

Pakistani American Cultural Studies Institute is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to promote Pakistani culture and community by providing academic programs at institutions of higher learning. The purpose is to establish Urdu language programs and create a Pakistani Studies Division at these universities.

Description:
Pacsi ©

Founded in 2007 by Khalida Kareemi and co-founded by Seema Kareemi, PACSI’s goal is to implement Pakistani-American ethnic studies programs with a focus on Urdu language and cultural courses nation wide at two- and four-year colleges and universities. It is the first and only organization of its kind to develop a cultural and social support system that addresses the unique needs of Pakistani-American students.
PACSI’s leadership, experience, curriculum and network provide a unique opportunity to
make a significant impact in the Pakistani-American community. Its implementation model offers a sustainable, permanent university program that targets an emerging and under-served minority student population that will be replicated at major universities
throughout the nation.

History:
PACSI was created in 2007 in San Francisco. However, prior to its creation, efforts had already begun at community colleges to create Urdu language programs in the cultural studies Divisions. This created an awareness within the community and developed a more interest in serving our student population.
