Margaret Kadoyama Consulting is based on a vision of the key role that cultural organizations play as vital members of their communities. Principal Margaret Kadoyama works collaboratively with organizations and community leaders to strategically address issues of community involvement and audience development, assess programs, create work-plans to serve specific audiences, and plan for sustainability.

Description:
Margaret Kadoyama Consulting specializes in community involvement plans, audience development plans, program assessment, and strategic education plans, with an emphasis on audience- and community-centered approaches for cultural organizations. Specific services include:

Community Involvement

Audience Development
• Strategic planning services in audience development
--Identifying and assessing current audiences

--Developing a sustainable action plan to increase and diversify audiences

Education Planning
• Strategic planning services for education
--Identifying current and potential audiences for education programs
--Assessing the needs and interests of educators
--Developing a sustainable action plan to serve target audiences, such as educators, K-12 students and their families

Program Evaluation
• Evaluation and assessment of programs
--Clarifying program goals, objectives and audiences
--Evaluating programs and providing analysis of programs
--Updating in-house evaluation strategies

Staff Development
• Staff training on audience- and community-centered approaches

In addition, Ms. Kadoyama teaches Museums and Communities at John F. Kennedy University, providing students with the understanding and tools to develop and implement strategic plans to more fully involve cultural organizations with their communities.

History:
For more than twenty-five years, Margaret Kadoyama has worked with cultural and educational organizations and museums. Her work embraces extensive experience in community involvement, audience development, and education strategic planning, and includes positions with the Department of Museum Studies at John F. Kennedy University, Museum of Craft & Folk Art, California Academy of Sciences, Museum of Oriental Cultures in Corpus Christi, Texas, and the Navajo Tribal Museum in Window Rock, Arizona. Since 1996, Margaret Kadoyama Consulting has served many Bay Area cultural organizations, including the Oakland Museum of California, The Marine Mammal Center, Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, Marin Museum of the American Indian, Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation, San Francisco Museum of Craft+Design, and the National Japanese American Historical Society, among others.
