Xenophon Therapeutic Riding Center
Xenophon is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children with special needs by providing a high quality program of therapeutic horseback riding and related activities.
Description:
We work with children between the ages of 5 and 17, who have a variety of physical and cognitive disabilities. Using horses as a therapeutic vehicle provides our children with a new sense of independence and freedom of movement, as well as the opportunity to develop muscle tone and hand-eye coordination.
History:
Xenophon Therapeutic Riding Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We have been in continuous operation since our incorporation in 1992. Xenophon is a Premier Accredited Center with the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA), and we are the only accredited therapeutic riding center in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.

I'm a student and was looking for a volunteer oportunity with horses. The program is well-run, the horses are happy and welll-trained, and the kids are a pleasure to work with. This is an excellent opportunity for fit volunteers who enjoy the outdoors and working with animals. posted on September 28, 2005 |
