Raphael House offers comprehensive services helping at-risk families achieve stable housing and financial independence, while strengthening family bonds. Raphael House does not seek or accept any government funding.
Description:
Raphael House is a family shelter, offering private rooms, home-cooked meals, case-management services and a vibrant children's program. Two-thirds of the people we serve are children and two-thirds of the children are under five --- the most vulnerable of the homeless population. Sixty volunteers come every week and add excitement, energy and happiness to the program.
History:
Begun in 1971, Raphael House is the Bay Area's first shelter for homeless families. We have received three major awards, one national (the Chevron Award) for excellence in non-profit management and quality of care given to the families we serve.
