The Adult Day Services Network is part of the national movement to strengthen community safety net services that enable older and disabled adults to age in place by focusing on preventive health and wellness. Our mission is to advance the availability and quality of adult day services so that older and disabled adults can continue living at home, strengthen their health and wellness, and enjoy a welcoming community of care that supports families and caregivers. We envision a stronger, vibrant, and caring service environment, in which Adult Day Services is a household word.
Description:
The Adult Day Services Network of Alameda County is a non-profit association of nine agencies that collectively serve over 1,600 frail and disabled adults each year at 15 Adult Day centers. Our service mix includes adult day program scholarships, caregiver counseling and support groups, injury prevention services, including enhanced exercise and home safety modification, community education, and caregiver information and assistance. The goal is to increase access to services and strengthen the quality and scope of care offered at the adult day programs.
History:
The Network was founded in 1993 by adult day services providers who wanted to work together and leverage resources. They understood that by working collaboratively, ADS programs could gain strength and capacity that enhance the quality of services, expand service capacity and give programs a voice in public policy.
