Agency Details:
Oak Hill School
Oak Hill School is committed to working in partnership with families to inspire children with developmental challenges to become active and passionate learners through an environment that promotes curiosity, flexibility, initiative and closeness to others.
Description:
Located in San Anselmo, California, the Oak Hill School provides an academic and therapeutic program for children from kindergarten through adolescence. Our staff includes special education teachers, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, creative arts therapists and psychotherapists. These professionals serve children with a variety of diagnoses, including non-verbal learning disability, autism spectrum disorder, as well as sensory integration, regulatory and multi-system developmental disorders. While the range of disabilities among children at Oak Hill is broad, classroom groupings cluster children with similar academic levels and learning styles. Our education program includes groups of children with good verbal skills and strong academic potential as well as groups of children with emerging language and academic abilities. Children who have struggled in the traditional classroom environment have an opportunity at Oak Hill to develop academic and social skills, high esteem and become leaders among their peers. As of September 2009, Oak Hill serves 32 students.
History:
Oak Hill was started by a group of families who saw the need for integrated therapeutic education to serve children with developmentally-based learning challenges. The school opened in October 2000 and is certified by the Department of Education as a non-public school.
