Mission Statement The Charlotte Maxwell Complementary Clinic was founded to provide free complementary alternative medicine to low income women with cancer. By providing these services we hope to empower women to have control over their lives and health care choices. Through this work we also hope to educate the community at large about cancer and about health care as a human right.

History:
The Charlotte Maxwell Complementary Clinic (CMCC)is named for Charlotte Maxwell, who died of ovarian cancer in 1988. During her last months, Charlotte found that the quality of her life was greatly enhanced by complementary alternative therapies. As a result of her experience, she came to feel strongly that these therapies should be offered free of charge to women who could not otherwise afford them. Founded in 1992, CMCC began offering these therapies to 10-15 women on Saturdays. CMCC grew, and is still growing, this year opening a new clinic in San Francisco. Since its inception, CMCC has more than quadrupled its clinic hours and maintains a pool of over 200 volunteer practitioners. CMCC now serves more than 700 women, many of whom are critically ill.
